Abrasive Wheel Training

Abrasive Wheels Course Aim:

To provide trainees with the skills to use abrasive wheels tools such as angle grinders, bench grinders and con-saws safely as laid down in the Safety in Industry (Abrasive Wheels) Regulations, 1982, soon to be replaced by the The Safety, Health and Welfare at Work (General Application) Regulations 2016 (SI 36/2016) commending July 2016.

Abrasive Wheels Course objectives:

On completion of this course, learners will be able to:abrasive wheels
• Be aware of their legal rights and responsibilities
• Competent in selecting correct discs and wheels
• Be able to mount discs and wheels safely,
• Identify hazards and risks associated with abrasive wheels
• Use abrasive wheels safely and competently
• Dress and true abrasive wheels where applicable

Abrasive Wheels Course Content

• Legislation
• Mounting of abrasive wheels
• Hazards arising from the use of abrasive wheels and precautions which should be observed
• Marking abrasive wheels as to type and speed
• Storing, handling and transporting abrasive wheels
• Inspecting and testing abrasive wheels to check for damage
• Functions of all components used with abrasive wheels
• Assembling all components and of correct balancing of abrasive wheels
• Dressing an abrasive wheel
• Adjustment of the rest of an abrasive wheel

€400 for an in-house session comprising of 12 people
